The June Young Story:

June was first associated with the Nuriootpa hockey club in1978 when her husband Rob was playing.

It all began with some street stalls and vintage festival fundraising for the hockey club. It wasn’t until her first child Aimee started to play at 8 years old that she became more involved with the committee. She soon became club secretary and held this position for 4 years.

June was also involved with junior managing roles for various teams and later became team manager of one of the B Grade women Premiership winning sides.

June was part of the 20 year committee and was awarded the Kellett family senior club person in 1997 for the work she did for the club.

June currently sponsors the good sportsmanship trophy to encourage A grade players to show respect for each other and other teams.

Just to prove that you don’t have to be a player to be involved in the committee June is the only life member who has never actually played in a match before.
