The Donna Vukcevic Story:
Donna might be described by many as the quiet achiever off the field.
She was a member of our committee for 12 years and secretary for 6 of these. Donna is someone who will never be limited in the tasks listed on her job description and consistently goes above and beyond for the club to make sure things get done. From negotiating and securing sponsorship to blowing up balloons on Grand Final Day no job is too big or too small for Donna.
On the field Donna is anything but quiet! She has played an impressive 10 A Grade premierships and captained or coached many of them. A centre forward Donna displays immense skill and determination, which has seen her awarded as top goalscorer for the A Grade Competition many times.
Donna is a role model on the field with her “Never give up” attitude and in one particular match managed to score 3 goals after breaking her ribs!
Among the association she is respected as a tough opponent, but one with impeccable sportsmanship.
Donna is proud of her association with Nuri Hockey Club and along with her family donates the Danny Van Der Biezen trophy for the Junior Club Person award in memory of her twin brother who displayed the same Van Der Biezen traits as Donna and her sister Beck – determination, commitment and skill.
There are many among NHC who will name Donna as one of their best friends.
Not only someone to look up to, but also someone to have a laugh with.
A true club legend who never assumed she was life membership material, but most definitely has earnt it.
