The Adrian Hoffmann Story:
Adrian Hoffmann was just a little tacker of 10, when he started in 1985 for Nuri's first Minkey team. Since then he hasn't missed a season and has become a Large and Solid member of Nuri Hockey Club.
Even from his early hockey career in the junior minkey competition, he was always a dominant forward. He enjoyed nothing more than picking up a ball blasted from the kicking fullback and then weaving through the defending back line to score. Often this tactic would lead to victories by 10 goals or more.
He was also a dedicated club man early on and was happy to take on coaching roles for the junior minkey sides.
Hoffy was one of the youngest A-Grade Premiership players where he was thrust into an unlikely Grand Final in 1992 - Adrian and 2 other young lads ( Stolly & Sibley ) came off the bench when required and added some necessary punch into a tiring forward line.
His leadership and skills on the fields were always respected on the field by his own team mates as well as the opposition. On many occasions he was tagged heavily, but still always managed to find space to draw the free or take a shot in goal. He was seen as always someone who could pull something out of the bag and if we needed a goal then more often than not Hoffy would come up with the goods.
He was also feared by many a full back in the league, as his physical presence and ability meant that you did not want to get on the wrong side when Hoffy was taking a shot as you could end up being bowled over or get a follow through stick in the back of the head. All within the rules of course!
He continues to support the club with his sponsorship of “Dimchurch Vineyards” and with his commitment to his community and motto of “ Ask a busy person and they'll to get things done” He is a Loyal Club member who will be around for a long time.
